Bow Windows
Bow windows are very similar to
bay windows. The only difference
between a bow and bay window is the layout. The bow window
typically has four or five windows joined together to form
an elegant curve or arc. However, any number of windows
can be used. You will usually see fixed, double-hung or
casement windows being used to create a smooth outward curve.
Bow windows consist of even units composing the window,
whereas the bay window is always a picture window flanked
with operating units.
In general, some people feel that bow
windows look more modern and bay windows look more traditional
in design. However, just like bay windows, bow windows are
a wonderful way to open up a room and create a harmonious
appearance. There are choices between fixed frame windows,
vented windows, or a combination of fixed frame and vented
windows. Furthermore, bow windows can be found in any size
and due to the gradual curve that the shape of the bow projects,
they can be made with your choice of 3, 4, 5, or even 6
equal sized sections.
Similar to bay windows, bow windows project
outside and away from the wall. For this reason, both of
these windows are typically capped with their own small
roof or covering and it is very common for the windows to
surround an interior window seat or a large shelf for displaying
plants. If you plan to create a window seat, make sure to
increase the depth of the bow. With bow windows you can
choose the depth and the degree of the curve.

Upgrading or Replacing Windows

As a homeowner, at some time or another
it is very likely that you will be interested in replacement
windows for your home. Upgrading or replacing your windows
is a very popular renovation project. Windows, like most
things in life, deteriorate as they age. Over the years
you will start to notice the appearance and function of
your windows beginning to weaken.
Bay and Bow Windows

Bay and bow windows bring more to
the table than your average window. This is mainly because
bay and bow windows are combinations of windows that extend
out from your house and capture a wide outside view. Regardless
of whether you have limited wall space, these windows allow
you to utilize more windows thus creating more of a view
while taking up a limited amount of space.
Lower Heating & Cooling Bills

The cost of energy is on an uphill
slope and will most likely continue to rise for sometime
now. For this reason, homeowners are incessantly looking
for ways to optimize the energy efficiency of their homes.
There are several ways to accomplish this, but one of the
most common ways includes installing replacement windows.
New replacement windows, such as vinyl replacement windows,
can help to increase the efficiency of your home’s heating
and cooling system.
